Boston-based singer-songwriter Edie Carey is known for her unmistakable honeyed voice, her intelligent, heart-grabbing songs, but perhaps most especially for her warm, engaging presence on - and off - stage. As much a part of her show as the music itself, Edie's wry and often self-mocking humor makes audiences feel as though they have just spent an evening with a very close friend.

Edie has been performing more than 180 shows a year at festivals, colleges, and listening rooms in the US, Canada and the UK since 1999.  Her just-released fifth album, "Another Kind of Fire," as well as her last CD, was funded entirely by her very loyal and steadily growing legion of fans.

Edie has shared stages with Sandra Bernhard, Jonatha Brooke, Catie Curtis, Leo Kottke, Lucy Kaplansky, and is a regular headliner at Boston's legendary Club Passim, Schuba's (Chicago), Cafe Montmartre (Madison), CSPS (Cedar Rapids), Tractor Tavern (Seattle), Hotel Cafe (Los Angeles), and The Living Room (New York City). She has also toured extensively with Melissa Ferrick.

"Edie Carey's reputation is well-deserved. She is filled with such high-spirited energy and humor that you can't take your eyes off her. You need to have good stories, good lyrics, and a super-engaging style to pull off truly confessional music, and [she] does it with equal parts love for her audience and star-quality panache."

Boulevard Place Cafe                                            Garrison Starr  *Nashville

Garrison invites listeners into her visceral world by constructing an intimate portrait of contemporary life as experienced by a soul longing for meaning and connection and as a person dealing with love in many forms - physical and spiritual, lost and gained.  A fearless performer, her audience always leaves reluctantly after getting a taste of her humor and humility. A native of Hernando, Mississippi, Garrison’s southern background subtly peeks through her songs as she blends a pop/rock/alternative sound with her country vocal curl.  First time listeners fall hard for her voice.

THE ALBUM:
The Girl that Killed September is singer/songwriter Garrison Starr’s latest album and self-described "best work."  The songs range from American rock to pop/alternative rock.  Listen to the album and you will be an immediate fan of her voice, talent, and honesty.  The Girl that Killed September was produced in Nashville by Neilson Hubbard (producer for Glen Phillips, Matthew Ryan and Strays Don’t Sleep) who also co-wrote on the album.

BOULEVARD PLACE CAFÉ

voted by NUVO's editors
as the

BEST PLACE TO HEAR LIVE
ACOUSTIC
MUSIC

"The best place to hear acoustic can’t typically be a bar, unless everyone is committed to being very quiet while sipping away. Boulevard Place Café hosts shows booked by Segment of Society and Indianapolis Songwriters Café in an ideal listening room, with only the clink of forks to distract."

Thanks NUVO ! ~Robin
